House at Amberley
Victorian House
Courtyard House
This project included an extension to a
house in a conservation area on the edge of
Minchinhampton Common. A master bedroom with a
large balcony looks across the Severn valley.
Below this is a new dining room opening onto the
garden, and a double garage. The remainder of the
house has been extensively refurbished with five
bedrooms and generous living areas.
The clients wanted to extend their wing of
a victorian gothic villa. The 3 - storey
extension contains a kitchen - dining space on
the ground floor, opening onto the South facing
garden. The two upper floors contain bedrooms,
including a master suite with a generous balcony.
The south-facing courtyard absorbs the
warmth of the sun with a conservatory as a
central feature of the living spaces. Highly
insulated walls face North and East and form a
natural boundary between the new house and its
Georgian neighbour.
